2. Dial 86 on your phone. This is China's country code.

3. Dial the two to four digit area code. You can find the specific numbers for the area in China you wish to call online or in your local White Pages directory.

4. Enter the 6 to 8 digit telephone number for the person you want to reach in China.

5. Stay on the line and wait for the person in China to pick up the phone.
