How to Save Themes in PowerPoint 2008 for Mac

PowerPoint 2008 is part of the Microsoft Office bundle for Mac computers. This program allows you to create slide shows and presentations using photos, charts and videos. While you can customize every presentation to your needs, sometimes you don't have time for that. In such cases, you can use PowerPoint themes. These themes are pre-designed templates for PowerPoint presentations. Not only can you use the themes that come installed with PowerPoint 2008, but you can create your own.

Instructions

    • 1

Open PowerPoint 2008. Click "File" and choose "New." This opens a blank template. Click "Toolbox" in the toolbar. This opens the formatting palette.

    • 2

Click "View" in the menu bar. Hover over "Master" and choose "Slide Master." This opens a basic theme template.

    • 3

Click "Document Theme" in the formatting palette. Under "Colors," pick a color theme or scroll all the way to the bottom and chose "Create Theme Colors" to design your own. These options determine the colors for text, links and other theme elements.

    • 4

Click "Slide Background." Either choose a pre-designed background or click "Format Background" to make your own. You can choose from either a solid color fill, gradient or picture. Choose a background you like and press "Apply."

    • 5

Click "Save Theme" under "Document Theme" in the formatting palette. Name the theme and make sure it ends with the .thmx extension. Press "Save."
