How to Add Titles to iMovie 4

IMovie 4 is video editing software designed by Apple. With iMovie, you can organize and watch videos on your computer. iMovie also allows you to edit videos, giving you the ability to add various production elements. Beyond adding special effects or customizing the transitions between frames, iMovie also allows you to add titles.

Instructions

      Open the video file you want to edit in iMovie.

      Click the "Titles" button on the lower toolbar. "Titles" is located in the middle of the toolbar between "Audio" and "Transitions."

      Select a title style from the list of style options. If you click on a style option, iMovie will display a preview of the style in the "Preview" box.

      Choose your text style. You can choose from a variety of font styles, as well as adjust the color and size of your text.

      Adjust the timing options for your title text. You can adjust the speed in which the title will enter and exit the screen and the length of time the title will remain on screen. When you are satisfied with the style aspects of your title, click "Update."

      Click on the created title and drag it into the clip viewer, placing it onto the clip on which you want the title sequence to display.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want your title to display over a black screen, check the "Over Black" box on the title menu.
