How to Recycle an Office Max Laser Cartridge
Most used printer cartridges end up in landfills. Recycling your used cartridges will not only help the environment but may also help your wallet. Many recycling centers now offer you money to donate your used cartridges. Also, many retailers, such as Office Max, have started reward programs for donating used cartridges. Recycling your used cartridges is simple to do and will help the environment.

Go to the "Office Max Perks" website (see Resources). If you would like to earn rewards for your business or classroom, you may join the Office Max "MaxPerks" recycling program.

Go to the "Office Max" website (see Resources), and enter your ZIP code into the designated box, on the bottom left side of the screen, to locate the Office Max closest you.

Bring your used laser cartridge to your local Office Max, and drop it off with a customer service representative. If you would like to earn points for your cartridge, you must inform the customer service representative. Office Max will recycle your cartridge.
Recycling By Mail

Go to your local post office and pick up an special envelope to mail a cartridge for recycling. Most post offices carry the preaddressed, postage-free envelopes. Simply insert your cartridge into the envelope, seal it and give it to a postal worker to mail for you.

Fill out the preaddressed mailing label that came with your cartridge, and place the cartridge into a box. Seal the box, and place the label on the outside of the box. You may mail it from home or drop it off at a local mailbox. If you are purchasing a new cartridge, you may use the new cartridge's box to mail back your used cartridge.

Go to the "Recycle4Dollars" website (see Resources). Click on "Recycle Now," and fill out the needed information on your cartridge. Click "Add," and a "Recycle Cart" will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click on the link to print your free, postage-paid mailing label. Follow the packing instructions on the website, and pack up your cartridge. Use the mailing label to mail Recycle4Dollars your used cartridge. You can earn up to $7 for each recycled cartridge. Recycle4Dollars only accepts cartridges in good condition because the company refills them for reuse.

Many office supply retail stores will accept donated, used cartridges.
Some office supply retail stores will refill your used cartridge and charge you a discounted rate for reusing it.
You may call your local post office and schedule a carrier pickup for your used cartridge.
