How to Replace a Gear Shift Bulb in the Toyota 4Runner

The Toyota 4Runner comes with a standard-size shifter mount. This makes it easy to install an upgraded or replacement shift bulb. You are better off purchasing a new shift bulb from a local auto supply store because you can judge the feel while you are there and return it if it's not to your liking. Shift bulbs come in a wide variety of styles and materials, so shop around until your find one that suits you and your 4Runner.

Instructions

1. Turn the car off to prevent accidentally shifting gears. Apply the parking brake.

2. Grasp the shift bulb and twist it counterclockwise to remove it.

3. Place the new bulb on the shifter and twist it clockwise until it is secure.
