How to Get My Ti83 to Label the Graph

The TI-83 is a handheld graphing calculator commonly used in mathematics and the sciences. The TI-83 can draw graphs from your inputted data and equations. Instead of taking hours to draw elaborate graphs, it can take seconds to produce one on the TI-83. No graph is really complete without a label; you can type a label on graphs on the TI-83 graphing calculator using the text() function, which writes text on graphs.

Instructions

1. Type "text(" on the TI-83's home screen.

2. Type a location for your label, in pixels, from the top left of your calculator's graphing screen. The screen is divided into 57 rows and 94 columns of pixels: you need to enter both a row and a column. For example, type "0,0" to put the label at the top left and "57,94" to put the label at the bottom right.

3. Type a comma and then type the label you want on your graph. For example, type "MyGraph." Include the quotation marks.

4. Type a closing parenthesis, ")." The finished command should look like this:

   text (0,0, "MyGraph") where 0,0 is the location of the phrase "MyGraph."

5. Press the "Enter" key.
