Connecting a laptop to a WEP-encrypted router connection is easy.

Wireless networking, or WiFi, is the network connecting technology used by most wireless devices, such as laptops and smart phones. The technology is available free of charge from most coffee shops and restaurants as an incentive to attract customers. Because the security of a wireless connection is not as good as that of wired networks, router manufacturers have invested time and money in overcoming this problem, and as a result have introduced a few options of connection encryption. One such security option is called WEP, or Wired Equivalency Protocol. Connecting to a router that has WEP enabled requires a simple setup.
