How to Set Up a Yamaha Receiver
Yamaha receivers serve as the core unit of a home entertainment system. All audio-video components, such as CD and DVD players, VCRs, speakers, TVs and other equipment connect directly to the Yamaha. The receiver enables you to select a different component to play back disks or videocassettes for viewing on the TV, while sending the audio signal to your speakers. The jacks are labeled for each component on the back of a Yamaha receiver and color-coded to designate cable hookups.

Connect each speaker to the terminals on the rear of the Yamaha labeled for that speaker, for example, left-front, center and right-front. The colored or striped wire connects to the red terminal on the speaker and Yamaha receiver. The plain wire connects to the black terminal.
