How to Make Rhinestone Shirts
A rhinestone-studded shirt can jazz up any outfit, whether it's intended for special occasion or for everyday wear. Easily obtained at many crafts stores and websites, rhinestones can be applied quickly. Heavily studded, a rhinestone shirt draws attention with its sparkle. Lightly studded, a rhinestone shirt glimmers and adds subtle interest to an otherwise commonplace outfit. Even people who feel like they aren't creative can succeed at making a one-of-a-kind, shimmery shirt.

1
Decide if you would like your finished product to be everyday style or more formal. Choose your shirt accordingly. Choose your transfer (if desired) and your rhinestones.
-
2
Wash and dry the shirt according to the manufacturer's instructions, even if it claims to be pre-shrunk. Clear a firm, iron-safe surface upon which to work.

3
Carefully place the transfer as you would like it on the shirt. Using the transfer package's instructions, iron the transfer onto the garment.
-
4
Place the rhinestones as you wish on the shirt. Be creative with the placement, emphasizing the parts of the transfer design that you especially like by placing extra stones there.
-
5
Follow the manufacturer's instructions to heat-set the rhinestones if you are using heat-applied stones. Otherwise, use a dab of fabric glue to carefully apply each rhinestone. Let it dry thoroughly, at least overnight.

Tips & Warnings
Try making a design entirely from rhinestones, leaving out the transfer completely.
Use puffy paint to paint on a design instead of using the iron-on transfer.
Supervise children if they are making the shirts, as the iron will need to be hot and burns could result.
