How to Upgrade a USB to Make it Retrieve Data Faster

You can upgrade your USB drivers to make the port transfer data faster.

USB ports allow computers to connect to USB devices such as mice, keyboards, media players and portable storage devices. If you have a computer that has USB 2.0 support and at least Windows XP Service Pack 1 installed, you can upgrade the drivers on your USB 2.0 ports. USB ports with the newest drivers will transfer data between connected devices and the computer faster.

Instructions

1. Click the "Start" button to launch the start menu.

2. Right click the "Computer" option on the start menu and choose "Properties."

3. Navigate to the "Device Manager." This will show all of the devices installed on your computer, including the USB 2.0 ports.

4. Click the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" to extend a list of USB controllers on your computer.

5. Right-click the "USB 2.0 EHCI Host controller" and choose to update the driver from the menu.

6. Choose "Install the software automatically," then click the "Next" button.

7. Click "Finish" to complete the upgrade. You may need to reboot your computer to allow the changes to take effect.
