How to Get Palkia in "Diamond"
Each game in the "Pokémon" series features a legendary Pokemon, like Palkia. You can only battle these monsters once in each game, and in some games you can't even find them except through a trade with another player or cartridge. Palkia who only appears in the "Pearl" and "Platinum" versions, while "Pokemon Diamond" features the legendary Dialga. However, if you are playing "Pokemon Diamond" and want to own Palkia, you will have to trade for it.

Play "Pokemon Pearl" until you find and defeat the Team Galactic leader in a cave near Hearthome City.

Travel up Mount Coronet to the Spear Pillar. Defeat your rival and the Team Galactic foes to reach Palkia. Save your game.

Use status-effects to weaken Palkia, and whittle away his HP, but don't kill him. Use ultra balls, or if you've been playing for more than 30 turns, timer balls to capture the creature. If you accidentally knock him out, restart at your saved point.

Return to the nearest Poke Center and go to the trade floor.

Insert "Pokemon Diamond" into the other DS console. Capture or choose any pokemon you are willing to trade away on your "Diamond" game.

Travel to the nearest Pokemon center, and go up the stairs to the trade floor.

Speak to the trade attendent on both consoles, and initiate a trade. Follow the on-screen instructions to select Palkia on the "Pearl" game and another Pokemon on the other game.

Tips & Warnings
Palkia and Dialga, the Diamond-exclusive legendary pokemon, are also in the "Platinum" version. You need the Lustrous orb to find Palkia at Spear Pillar. After that, use the same "trade" method to trade him to the "Diamond" game.
