Steering Wheel Cover Instructions

Steering Wheel Cover Instructions thumbnail
Add style to your plain steering wheel with an aftermarket cover.

Safety features in modern cars often take precedence over style. Strict safety guidelines dictate the placement and function of many components of car design. One of the places this is most noticeable is your vehicle's steering wheel. Unless you purchased a luxury or sport model, you may find that the aesthetics of your steering wheel materials, as well as the airbag contained in the hub, are less than exciting. Fortunately, aftermarket manufacturers provide steering wheel covers and wraps that can greatly improve the look and feel of your steering wheel, without permanently damaging your interior.

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe off your steering wheel rim with a clean rag to remove any dust or dirt.

    • 2

Remove the adhesive backing film from the inside of the wheel cover.

    • 3

Line up the wheel cover carefully with your steering wheel, especially if your cover is custom cut to fit around the spokes of the wheel.

    • 4

Press the cover firmly onto the steering wheel. Apply pressure with your hands all the way around the wheel to make sure that all the adhesive has made contact.

    • 5

Install the finishing molding if your cover includes one. These moldings also apply with self-adhesive strips. Peel away the adhesive backing and install around the outermost rim of the wheel. Trim off any excess so the two ends meet evenly.
