How to Create Your Own Snack Mix
Creating your own snack mix means you have total control over the ingredients. You can make the mix as salty, sweet or spicy as you like. You can also use healthy, low-sodium alternatives or sugar-free substitutes to cut out calories found in store-bought pre-made snack mixes. Making your own snack mix also can save you money over buying pre-made snack mixes. Some recipes call for liquid flavorings which then require baking, but you can also make a no-bake version of a snack mix in just a few minutes. Does this Spark an idea?

Add some nuts to the mixture, stirring them in with a serving spoon. You can use as many or as few nuts as you wish.

Add pretzel sticks or any other crunchy, salty item of your choice. It may be easier to mix these in with your hands, rather than the spoon.

Tips & Warnings
You can add spices to your snack mix, too. If you want a salty and savory mix, for example, leave out the fruit or candy and sprinkle the mixture with a little garlic powder, chili powder or any other spice you enjoy. If you accidentally add too much, just add more cereal or another bland ingredient to offset the spice.
If you are on a low-sodium diet, use unsalted nuts and low-sodium cereal. Use a salt substitute for flavoring the snack mix.
