How to Restring a Glass Beaded Necklace
The string on an older necklace can become fragile simply through age and wear. Necklaces that break do not need to be tossed out. Keep your favorite necklaces by restringing them. It will cost very little, and the supplies can be purchased at most craft stores or online. It will take less than an hour to recreate your necklace.

1
Lay your beads on a piece of fabric or beading board in the order you want it. Try to keep them in the same order as the original necklace. If you want to lengthen the necklace, add a few spacers or seed beads in between the original beads.
-
2
Slide a small metal jewelry loop onto the the string and knot it tightly in place.
-
-
3
Slide the string through the beads. Be sure not to bend or pull the tension on the string, as it will change the look of the necklace.
-
4
Slide another jewelry loop onto the string and knot it right up next to the beads.
-
5
Add either your original clasp or a new one to the two loops at either end of the beads.
-
6
Trim the edges of the jewelry string.
-
7
Place a bit of glue on each knot to ensure it stays secure.

Tips & Warnings
If you are restringing pearls, tie tiny knots in between each pearl so that they do not rub against each other and get scratched.
