Instructions

    • 1

Untwist the wire coat hanger at the point where the ends are twisted together, just below the hook.

    • 2

Trim the ends of the coat hanger using the tin snips, removing each tip just below the area where it curls.

    • 3

Straighten the coat hanger using your hands and the metal vice, first pulling it as straight as possible, then pressing the bends in the vice to straighten the hanger into a line.

    • 4

Adjust the vice grips to make their grip small enough to firmly grasp the coat hanger wire between them and make small bends and twists.

    • 5

Remove any candles from the tea light holder and set them aside.

    • 6

Bend the end of the coat hanger wire into a spiral. Make the coils of the spiral about 1/4 inch from each other and make the outer circle of the coil about the size of the base of the candle holder.

    • 7

Place the candle holder on the spiral, and coil the wire up and around the sides of the holder. Use the vice grips to help you bend the wire and wrap it around the holder more closely.

    • 8

Grip and twist the wire of the wrap to create tight curls in the wire, tightening the wrap around the candle holder.

    • 9

Secure the wire more firmly to the holder using a few dots of epoxy, if desired. Apply the glue at points where the wrap of the wire closely touches the holder. This will make the wire wrap permanent.

    • 10

Bend the wire at the top of the candle holder to create a handle, arching the wire over the top of the candle holder over to attach to the highest wire coil on the opposite side. Trim excess wire.
