How to Repair the Coolant Reservoir Tank in the 2001 Cadillac Seville
Coolant reservoir tanks often develop holes in the top due to corrosion and wear. When this happens, the tank can't hold the proper amount of coolant to prevent the engine from overheating. The best option for owners of a 2001 Cadillac Seville is to remove the tank and replace it with a new one. A new tank costs anywhere from $50 to $80. That's cheap compared to the cost of replacing an entire car if the engine is damaged due to overheating. Replacing the coolant reservoir tank only requires a few tools and can be done in a couple of hours.

1
Release the hood latch by pulling the lever underneath the steering panel. Lift the hood until it is open all the way. Prop it up with the tension bar.
-
2
Locate the coolant reservoir tank on the passenger side of the vehicle next to the front wheel well. The tank is long and clear, with a twist-off top.

-
3
Place a pan underneath the vehicle below the coolant tank to catch any excess coolant that comes out.
-
4
Unfasten the three bolts around the middle of the tank with a socket wrench. Put the bolts in a safe place so they can be re-used in the new tank. Detach the three hoses attached to the tank by un-clamping them with a Phillips head screwdriver. Leave the tank in place until all the coolant drains into the pan below. Remove the tank.

5
Place the new tank in the engine cavity. Fasten it in place with the bolts and attach the hoses. Remove the cap and fill the reservoir with coolant up to the fill line. Release the tension bar and close the hood.
