How to Learn Photoshop 5.1
Adobe Photoshop 5.1 is an older version of Photoshop. While it's not promoted by Adobe anymore, you can still use this software to edit photos, create graphics and design website layouts. If you're familiar with other versions of Photoshop, using Photoshop 5.1 is simple, but if you're new to Photoshop you must learn how to use the program. While it may seem overwhelming at first, proper instruction makes using the program more simple and intuitive.

1
Read the manual that comes with Photoshop 5.1. This manual includes all the technical information about installing and running this version of Photoshop.
-
2
Buy a Photoshop book (see References). Most of these books are written for Photoshop beginners and include information about running the program as well as information about creating specific projects.

3
Visit an online tutorial website. Colleges or Photoshop professionals set up tutorial websites for people to teach themselves Photoshop. Several tutorial websites are based on Photoshop 5.1. Read through these tutorials and follow along with the step by step instructions.
-
4
Hire a Photoshop coach. As of 2010, Photoshop 5.1 isn't commonly used, so most Photoshop classes won't offer lessons on how to use it. If you'd like someone to teach you, hire a Photoshop coach. This can either be a retired graphic design professor, a design student, or just someone who knows how to use Photoshop. Place an ad in a local newspaper or place fliers at a library requesting Photoshop 5.1 help.

Experiment with the program yourself. Sometimes the best way to learn something is just by doing it. Open Photoshop 5.1 and select "File" from the menu bar. Choose "New" and open a blank document. Use the options in the toolbar and the menu bar to see how they function. You might be able to figure out the program without any outside help.
