How to Secure a Skirt With Kilt Pins
Not regulated only to bagpipe players, the Scots or Celtics, kilts have become mainstream and are now acceptable wear at many formal occasions, such as weddings and funerals. Wrapped and pulled over to one side and left open, without a kilt pin a strong wind could reveal parts better left unseen. Use a ruler to measure the right side of the kilt 4 inches from the bottom of the hemline.

Measure 2 inches from the fringe on the right side of the kilt.

Open the pin and insert the pointed end of the pin through the top layer of fabric only.

Return the pin back through the kilt to the front.

Clasp the pin. Adjust the pin so it is in a vertical straight line.

Tips & Warnings
Wear a pin which denotes your ancestry.
Do not attach the pin to the bottom layer of kilt, as it may tear the fabric.

I am trying to find out which way the "safety" pin should be facing as this is not seen anywhere in my search..... should clip be clipped at bottom (towards hem) or clipped at top (facing waist).... hope this is clear! Thanks!
