How To Make Minced Garlic From a Clove of Garlic
Garlic is commonly used in a variety dishes and a small amount can add a lot of flavor. While garlic packs a powerful flavor punch no matter how you slice it, you'll find that mincing garlic releases the oils, and therefore gives an even stronger taste than chopping it. The easiest way to make minced garlic from a clove of garlic is with a garlic press, but if you don't have one, you can also achieve the same effect with a large knife. Does this Spark an idea?

Place the clove of garlic on a cutting board and lay a large knife flat on the clove. Press down on the blade with your hand until the clove is crushed and the skin is loosened.

Peel the skin away from the garlic clove and place the clove in the garlic press. Close the press.

Hold the press over a bowl or your cutting board with the holes facing down and squeeze as hard as you can. The minced garlic will be pushed through the holes. You may need to use a small knife to scrape the last bit of minced garlic from the bottom of the press.

Place the clove of garlic on a cutting board and lay a large knife flat on the clove. Press down on the blade with your hand until the clove is crushed and the skin is loosened.

Peel the skin away from the garlic clove. Press the clove to the cutting board with one hand, and with the other hand, take a small paring knife and slice the garlic as thinly as possible.

Gather the slices together in a small pile. Hold the large knife over the garlic, gently keeping the tip touching the cutting board with your free hand, and quickly rock the knife back and forth to chop the garlic finely. If you feel not enough oil has been released, press the flat side of your knife against the garlic to squeeze the oil out.
