Maps on Google and Yahoo! offer more than just directions, they allow you to create, save and share bookmarks, or points of interest, on your maps. The process differs depending on whether you prefer Google or Yahoo! mapping software.

Instructions

  1. Google Maps

      Start your Internet browser and go to Google Maps (See Resources). Click "Sign In" at the top-right corner and enter your Google user name and password.

      Enter an address you wish to mark, such as "1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, D.C." in the search bar and press "Enter." Click on the correct red place marker (depending on your query and location, there might be more than one).

      Click "Save To." Select "Create a New Map" in the drop-down menu. The red marker has turned to blue, indicating that you've saved the location.

      Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for every location you want to mark, saving them to your personal map. These locations will be available on any computer you access when you log into Google Maps. They're also available from any Web-enabled cell phone.

    Yahoo! Maps

      Start your Internet browser and go to Yahoo! Maps (See Resources). Click "Sign In" in the top-left corner and enter your Yahoo! user name and password.

      Enter an address you wish to mark, such as "1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington D.C." in the search bar and press "Enter." Click on the correct orange place marker (depending on your query and location, there might be more than one.)

      Click "More info." The browser will open a new tab or window with the location's Place page. Click "Save for later," then "OK." The location has been saved to your My Local tab, and can be accessed by clicking the "My Local" link at the top of the page.

      Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for every location you want to mark, saving them to your My Local tab. These locations will be available on any computer you access when you log into Yahoo! Maps.
