How to Prepare Fuzzi Bunz
Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapers are a popular, pocket diaper choice. Pocket diapers have an outside waterproof layer, and an absorbent insert to soak up wetness. These reusable diapers also have snaps to allow you to fit them to your baby. If you'd like to use Fuzzi Bunz, make sure you have all of the supplies you need and you prepare them for wear beforehand.

Preparing Your Fuzzi Bunz
-
1
Choose a detergent that works well with cloth diapers and doesn't contain any additives. See Resource 1 for a chart with suggestions of appropriate detergents and some to avoid.
-
2
Wash your cloth diapers before you use them. This is particularly important if you've purchased the diapers used. To wash cloth diapers, run a cold rinse first to get rid of any solid materials.

-
3
Run a hot wash cycle with a cold rinse. Only use about 1/4 to 1/2 of the detergent's recommended amount per load, to prevent detergent build-up, which could cause your Fuzzi Bunz to smell. Run a final cold rinse as a precaution to get rid of any extra detergent.
-
4
Dry your Fuzzi Bunz in your dryer. You can also line dry them. A day in the sun helps get rid of stains.
-
5
Stuff the Fuzzi Bunz with an appropriate cloth diaper insert. Because Fuzzi Bunz are a pocket diaper, you have to stuff them with an insert that will absorb your baby's urine. Fuzzi Bunz makes liners, but if your baby is a heavy wetter, you might need to purchase additional liners. You can simply use a newborn-sized, pre-fold diaper for a larger Fuzzi Bunz. You can also use microfiber towels as inserts. Cloth diaper supply stores also sell several different inserts specially made for pocket diapers, such as organic or bamboo inserts.
-
6
Snap them to fit your baby. Fuzzi Bunz now makes a one-size diaper. If you have an older model, you might notice that your diapers are sized, small to large. Fuzzi Bunz has snaps to make the diaper fit your baby's current size. Lay your baby on the open Fuzzi Bunz and adjust the snaps to best fit your baby's size.

Tips & Warnings
Purchase a large wet bag to place your dirty diapers in when you're at home. You can also purchase a smaller wet bag for when you're out.
The Diaper Jungle doesn't recommend washing more than two dozen diapers at a time. Too much friction can hurt your diapers.
Never store your dirty diapers in a pail full of water. In addition to breeding bacteria, this also poses a drowning risk for baby.
