There Was a SMTP Communication Problem With the Recipient's Email Server. Please Contact Your System

SMTP, or simple mail transfer protocol, is a common type of server used by email service providers to transmit email messages over the Internet. A message is sent from your computer, goes out over an outgoing email server, and then attempts to establish a connection with the recipient's email server. A failure to establish a connection with the recipient's email server must be resolved before you will be able to send email to that recipient. If you find yourself in this situation, it can be typically be resolved using a few simple troubleshooting steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Open an Internet browser and attempt to browse the Internet. If there is no Internet connection for your email service to use, you will not be able to establish any connection with an SMTP server. If you are able to load web pages but your email service is still not working, the problem most likely is not with your Internet service.

Verify the recipient's email address. This may seem like an obvious step, but your email service uses the domain part of the recipient's email address (@serviceprovider.com) to identify the recipient's email servers. One extra space, capitalized letter or misspelled word will cause this exact error, so double-check the recipient's email address for any typos.

Contact the recipient by means other than email. If she has changed her email address or changed to a different Internet service provider, you will need to update the recipient's email address in your message. If their email service provider is experiencing server issues, you will unfortunately need to wait until it resolves the issue before you will successfully be able to email the recipient.
