How to Do a Curly Weave
Weaves or hair extensions offer the ultimate in hairstyling versatility. They can be used to make short hair long, long hair short, black hair blond and even blond hair blue. People with naturally curly hair often buy chemical hair relaxers, cream straighteners, flat irons and hot combs to get a sleek, straight look. However, without the use of a chemical hair curling agent, curly hair can only be achieved temporarily with curling irons or hair rollers. A curly weave offers the option of wearing a curly style for weeks to months at a time without chemicals or devices. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need

Instructions

1
Wash and thoroughly dry your hair.
-
2
Create a foundation for your weave. Part and cornrow braid your hair straight back. Cornrows force the hair to lie tightly against the scalp, facilitating the weaving process. Try to braid your rows close together so a lot of scalp is not showing in between. Try to braid them in equal size.

-
3
Thread your sewing needle. Knot the ends of the thread. Sew the braid ends together at the front of the head.
-
4
Remove a track of weave from one of your packs. Measure the track from ear to ear around the back your head. Cut to fit. Sew tracks onto braids from ear to ear beginning at the nape of the neck. Cut only five or six tracks to use at the back. They may look scanty but styling a curly weave requires a lot of teasing, which will create a lot of fullness.
-
5
Sew a thumb-sized circle of uncut weave hair at the top of the head. Do this in a circular pattern. Use an arm's length of thread to prevent tangling. Cut away any remaining hair when the little circle is complete.
-
6
Rethread the needle. Tie a knot in the ends of the thread. Cut any thread hanging past the knot. Sew the tracks in a criss-cross or "X" pattern. Start at the right side behind the ear and sew forward to the front left. Sew weave across the forehead to the right side and down diagonally to the left down to behind the left ear. Pull tracks tightly while sewing.
-
7
Spray detangler on the weave hair. Pull hair strands apart and tease for definition. To maintain, hold weave hair in a ponytail with your scrunchie and cover with a scarf.

Tips & Warnings
An option to cornrowing your hair, which is a difficult skill in and of itself, is to create a foundation on top of your natural hair. This may be accomplished by first washing, drying and straightening your hair. You would then use needle and thread to sew straight lines across your head wherever you want the weave to go. The weave tracks would then be sewn into the threaded patterns.
