How to Reinstall 2005 Bonneville GXP Exterior Door Panel Molding
Automotive door panel molding is either a contrasting color or painted the same color as your 2005 Bonneville GXP. Molding is attached to a door with auto tape or adhesive so it can be removed and reused after painting doors or repairing doors. Proper preparation and installation will replace the molding and adhere it securely to a door.

- Dishwashing liquid
- Bucket
- Washcloth
- Chamois
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Paper towel
- Painter's blue tape
- Scissors
- Double-sided auto attachment tape
- Automotive adhesive activator

Mix dishwashing liquid and water in a bucket to form a soapy mixture. Use a washcloth to wash the door panel in the area for molding attachment. Rinse the area with water and dry it with a chamois.

Pour isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel and thoroughly clean the door panel. Let the alcohol evaporate for a minute or so until the area is dry.

Stick blue painter's tape at the top edge where the molding will apply to the door panel. Make a straight line to follow for the molding application.

Lay the door panel molding wrong side up on a flat surface. Pull the loose end of double-sided auto attachment tape off the roll. Lay the end on the left side of the molding. Stretch out the tape to the opposite end of the molding and cut it to size with scissors. Remove the backing from one side of the double-stick tape and press onto the molding.

Peel off the backing from the second side of tape that is facing up. Spray automotive adhesive activator on the tape.

Place the door molding on the car starting at the left side of the painter's tape. Press the left edge so the top touches the painter's tape. Press the molding onto the door and work to the right end of the molding placing it just below the painter's tape in a straight line. Press the molding firmly to adhere to the paint.

Pull the painter's tape off the car door.

Tips & Warnings
Auto adhesive activator is available at auto parts stores in an aerosol or pump spray can.
Some adhesive activators are colored, and any overspray will stain the car door. Apply this product directly to the molding and not on the car door.
Use only automotive products for the installation of molding to secure it properly without risk of it falling off.
