Instructions

1
Determine a budget for the project and begin researching costs. To budget correctly know if your ramp will be used primarily for skateboarding or inline skating. Skateboards require less steep ramps.
-
2
Research sites online that provide detailed instructions on how to build a mini half pipe ramp. Decide the dimensions for your ramp, including the steepness, height and size of the platforms.
-
-
3
Find a level spot to build the ramp. Once the ramp is built it will be difficult to move. Level a spot in your yard if needed.
-
4
Draw and cut out a transition template from one of your pieces of plywood. A transition template determines the steepness, height and distance of rise of your ramp. This will serve as the outline for the four pieces for your ramps. Draw and cut out the side pieces using the template.
-
5
Assemble the side pieces and the 2x4's into four sections of transition framing, based on the designs you selected. The transition framing runs up the slope of your ramps, providing support.
-
6
Install a coping pipe on each end of the mini ramp, drilling holes for screws to secure the pipe to the platform. The pipe catches and holds the wheels of the skateboard or inline skate. It should be 1.5 inches in diameter. The length should be the same as your ramp. It can either be PVC or metal pipe.
-
7
Complete the installation of the plywood pieces as specified in your instructions. After completion, sand, paint or stain your ramp. Lay a level on both ramps to check to make sure it is straight. Check to make sure there are no raised screws or splintered wood on the platform, and that it is sturdy when you stand and move on it.
