Adding interest to your site with Flash.

You've set up a Web page with good content, and want to embed a Flash movie to provide visual appeal and to keep visitors interested and engaged. NetObjects Fusion makes the task straightforward. The interface is user-friendly, and you have full control over where you place the Flash movie file on the page and how you want it to look.

Instructions

    • 1

Download your site on NetObjects Fusion from the "Site Projects" tab. This will open the "Structure" tab: double-click on the relevant page.

    • 2

Select "View" and scroll to "Toolbars." Click "Plug-Ins."

    • 3

Click the red Flash icon on the sidebar menu. The icon is red with an "f" in typescript.

    • 4

Take the cursor to the exact spot on the page where you want to embed your Flash movie. Click and drag to open a box.

    • 5

Locate your Flash movie from the relevant directory in the pop-up box and click on it. This will automatically insert the .SWF Flash file into the layout box on the site page.

    • 6

Edit the dimensions of the Flash file. Check also that your version of Adobe Flash is sufficiently up-to-date to play the movie. Click "Save" on the drop-down menu of the "File" button on the menu bar to ensure that the whole site is updated on NetObjects Fusion.

    • 7

Publish the page by selecting the "Publish Site" button. Choose whether to update just the new elements, the whole page or the entire site.

Tips & Warnings

  • Less is more. Use Flash sparingly for maximum effect.

  • Site the Flash movie slightly away from pop-out navigation or text buttons to avoid their being inadvertently masked by the movie file. Flash files occasionally migrate to the top layer of elements on a page and may cover any animation under an overlap.

  • Double-check that you are connected to the Internet before publishing the page.
