How to Install an Engine Air Filter Kit in a 2005 Honda Accord
An aftermarket air intake kit will replace the stock air intake that is installed in the engine compartment on your 2005 Honda Accord. Aftermarket air filters allow more air to mix with the gasoline entering the engine, giving your Honda Accord more power. The installation process for an aftermarket air filter is almost the exact opposite of removal. Most aftermarket air filter systems are basically the same; the main differences are the size and shape of the air filter, and the color and design of the intake tube.

- Phillips screwdriver
- Flat head screwdriver
- Air intake kit with securing clamps

Open the air intake box by lifting up on the plastic tabs and pulling the cover off the box. Pull the air filter out of the box using your hands. Remove the screws at the bottom of the air box using a Phillips head screwdriver.

Loosen the screw on the securing clamp that is securing the intake tube to the top of the engine using a flat head screwdriver. Pull the intake tube off the engine. Pull the air box and the air intake tube out of the engine.

Place the air intake tube on the top of the engine. Insert the corresponding end of the tube into the connector on the top of the engine. Secure the tube using a metal clamp. Tighten the clamp using the flat head screwdriver. Only one metal clamp secures the tube to the top of the engine and the air sensor is inside the intake on the top of the engine, so you don't need to remove it.

Screw the filter onto the end of the air intake tube. Tighten the filter until it is snug but don't over-tighten it. On some air intakes you may need to secure the air filter to the end of the air intake tube using a hose clamp. If this is the case, place the clamp over the rubber seal on the filter. Place the filter onto the tube so that the rubber seal stretches over the end of the tube and tighten the clamp.
