Ford F250 Front Brake Rotor Removal
Removing the front brake rotor of the Ford F-250 is a job that can be completed in about a half-hour. Occasionally, the brake rotor can wear out or get dirt caught between the rotor and the brake pads. When this happens, it can damage the rotor and require the rotor to be removed as soon as possible. Leaving a damaged rotor on the F-250 can cause more damage to the brakes and wheel hub. You can remove the front brake rotor yourself, saving you time and money.

Instructions

1
Drive the Ford F-250 onto a level surface and put the truck in "park." Set the emergency brake and place a wood block behind one of the rear tires to keep the vehicle from moving.
-
2
Loosen the lug nuts with a few turns of the lug wrench. Raise the vehicle up by placing a floor jack under the axle near the wheel you need to remove and lifting the vehicle with the jack.
-
-
3
Set a jack stand underneath the axle near the tire you are removing and lower the floor jack down so the vehicle is sitting on the jack stand. Unfasten the lug nuts with the tire tool and take the tire off the wheel, setting it and the lug nuts out of the way.
-
4
Unfasten the bolts that are securing the brake caliper to the rotor with a socket wrench and lift the brake caliper off the rotor. Hang the caliper out of the way using a wire hanger to suspend the caliper from the truck frame.
-
5
Take the brake caliper bracket and brake pads off the rotor by hand and set them out of the way.
-
6
Slide the brake rotor off the F-250 wheel hub, gently rocking it back and forth until you can remove it by hand.
