Instructions

    • 1

Add the soy wax and coconut butter or oil to the bowl. These ingredients can be found in a craft or hobby supply shop as well as online.

    • 2

Microwave the bowl on high for two minutes, or until the contents melt into a thin, clear liquid.

    • 3

Snip a 6-inch length of wick from the spool. This is the proper wick size for a miniature taper candle. Standard tapers require wicks measuring from 10 to 12 inches in length.

    • 4

Insert the length of wick into the miniature taper candle mold. It's an upright structure with a hollowed-out center for pouring in the candle wax. Make sure the wick is inserted into the mold, with the excess length of it dangling out and over the side of the mold to prevent it from slipping into it.

    • 5

Pour the hot wax into the mold slowly, holding the wick end to the outside of the mold to keep it in place. Let the candle cool to room temperature and harden for three hours before sliding it out of the mold. Repeat steps 1 through 5 to create your own set of mini taper candles.

Tips & Warnings

  • Stir in some food coloring or essential oil while the wax is still melted and in the glass bowl. For a 6-inch miniature taper, around 15 drops of most essential oil blends creates a strong scent. Experiment with different smells and colors to create your own signature candles.
