How to Use Crepe Streamers

Sometimes when you throw a party you are in the mood to do everything yourself, from cooking the food to crafting the decorations. Other times, you want to spoon the food out of the store packaging into serving dishes and rely on balloons, store-bought banners and crepe-paper streamers to make the decorative statement. Next time you are looking to be able to throw up party decorations in an hour or less, hang streamers from the walls and ceiling to make a quick, yet big decorative impact. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Move the step stool to one corner of the room where you plan to hang the streamers. Tape the end of the streamer coming off the roll to the wall as tightly against the ceiling as possible and directly in the corner.

    • 2

Step down from the stool, unraveling streamer as you do. Walk to the middle of the room as you unravel more streamer from the roll.

    • 3

Set the roll of streamer down on the floor in the center of the room. Walk back and grab the step stool.

    • 4

Pick up the roll of streamer and climb the step stool. Twist the roll of streamer to give the length of streamer a decorative twist. Cut the twisted streamer to a length that allows it to be taped up to the ceiling in the center of the room, while also dipping down in the center of its length to about a foot below the ceiling. Tape up the end of the streamer.

    • 5

Repeat the taping, unraveling, twisting and taping process until there is a streamer extending from each corner of the room to the center, and from the middle of each wall to the center. You may also hang swags of streamers over windows and doorways.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use two colors of streamers together. Use the two colors the same way you used the one, only twist the two colors together during the twisting step so it looks like one streamer that is one color on one side and another color on the other side.

  • You may have to attempt twisting the streamer a couple of times before you get the hang of it. The twists should be all evenly distributed throughout the length of the streamer and not too loose or tight. You want a twist in the streamer every 10 to 12 inches for the best look.

  • Hang balloons where the ends of the streamers are taped to the wall and ceiling to conceal the ends of the streamers for a neater look.
