How to Activate Server 2003 Client Access Licenses Over the Phone

To issue licenses to Terminal Services clients in Windows Server 2003, a user must first activate a license server. A user has multiple methods of activating a license, including by phone. To activate a license by phone, a user needs information regarding the license server he is trying to activate so he can provide it to the customer representative when prompted.

      Click "Start" and highlight "Administrative Tools." Click "Terminal Server Licensing."

      Expand "All servers" in the console tree.

      Locate the license server you wish to activate. Right-click it and select "Activate Server."

      Click "Next" when the Terminal Server License Server Activation Wizard starts. Choose "Telephone" in the "Activation method" box when the "Connection Method" page appears.

      Select your country or region on the "Country or Region Selection" page, then click "Next."

      Call the number displayed when the "License Server Activation" page appears and provide the Microsoft customer support representative with the information you are asked for.

      Enter the license server ID provided from the customer service representative, then click "Next."

      Choose to either install client license key packs immediately and follow the on-screen instructions, or choose to install client license key packs later. Exit the Terminal Server Licensing by closing the window.

  • A user can also activate client access licenses over the Internet if he wishes.
