How to Create a Model of Your Body Shape Online

Try on clothes online with a virtual model that shares your body type.

If you don't have the time or desire to go to a clothing store and try on clothes, or if an online store has an item you like that you can't find at the mall, creating an online model of yourself is a great way to test how clothes will look on your body type. If you find yourself disappointed with your online clothing purchases, creating a virtual model can help you avoid wasted money or time spent returning items.

Instructions

1. Access a website that lets you create a virtual model. A number of sites let you link a model to clothing catalogs of established brands, allowing you to dress your model in these clothes (see Resources).

2. Fill out a form with physical information about yourself such as your race, height, weight and body type (hourglass, cone or pear). As you select each attribute, the model will change to reflect your characteristics. If you think the model appears too skinny or curvy, you can adjust the figure to reflect a more toned or curvier figure that looks more like you.

3. Upload a digital photo of yourself to have your own face appear on the model's body. This is an optional step, but it will make the model look more like you.

4. Create an account with the site and save your model if you would like to use it in the future without re-selecting your features.
