iTunes Has Problems Syncing Because of an Antivirus

iTunes is a media management software that organizes your music, photos and video files on your computer. The software also supports syncing MP3 players for a streamlined transfer process between your media player and your computer. If your antivirus program is interfering with the sync process, use the Windows Task Manager to end the antivirus process before you start the sync. If the problem still persists, enter your operating system in Safe Mode where the system loads a limited set of drivers and processes.

Instructions

  1. Stop Processes with Task Manager

    • 1

Press "Ctrl"+"Shift"+"Esc" to open the "Task Manager" utility window.

    • 2

      Click the "Processes" tab.

    • 3

Select the filenames of the antivirus processes and click "End Process."

    • 4

Connect your media device to your computer and open iTunes. The antivirus software will not interfere with the sync.

    Sync in Safe Mode

Press and hold the "F8" key once your computer reboots to access the "Advanced Boot Options Menu." Use the arrow keys to highlight the "Safe Mode" option and press "Enter."

Open iTunes, connect your media player to your computer and start the sync process. While in "Safe Mode" the processes and drivers for the antivirus program will not be allowed to load.
