Create Storyboards With Software

Storyboards are created to give the film cinematographer and director an idea of how scenes will be shot in a movie. These storyboards make it easier for production to occur, as it details the events that will be filmed within a project in chronological order. Design programs can be used to create storyboards for a clearer idea of how the storyline will flow. Once the storyboard has been created, scenes can be removed, added or re-organized to refine the storyline.

Shoot photos imitating the action that will occur in the film project using a digital camera. Then create a photo folder on the computer desktop by right-clicking on the desktop with the mouse, or by pressing the "Control" key and clicking on the left mouse button at the same time. Select "New Folder" in the menu that appears and select "OK" when finished.

    • 2

Remove the card from the camera and place it into the card reader. Open the card reader drive and select the photo files from it by holding down the "Control" or "Apple" key on the keyboard and clicking on each file with the mouse. Once the files are highlighted, drag them into the desktop folder to transfer them.

    • 3

Open the design program by clicking on the program icon located in the "Start" menu or on the desktop. Begin a new project by selecting "File" then "New" from the toolbar menu at the top of program screen. Name the project and click "OK" upon completion.

Import the photos by selecting "File" then "Open" from the toolbar menu. Select the photos from the desktop folder and click "OK" to transfer them into the project. • 5

Click on the images to select them and drag each image icon from the "Layers" palette on the left side of the screen into the project canvas. Repeat this step for every image until the storyboard is complete. Enter text at the bottom of each image by selecting the "Text" tool in the toolbar and briefly describe the shot format and the action that is occurring in it. Save the project by selecting "File" then "Save" from the toolbar menu.
