How to Perform a Secure FTP in IE

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a method used to upload and download files and folders to and from a website. While you can use third-party applications such as FileZilla to perform a secure FTP, you can also use Internet Explorer to do the same task. You must have the FTP credentials to a website to perform most of the tasks related to FTP, which include uploading files and folders.

      Type "ftp://ftp.websitename" (substitute "websitename" with the name of the website) into the URL bar in Internet Explorer and press "Enter." This will open the files and folders on the FTP site in Internet Explorer.

      Download a file or folder by right-clicking its name and selecting "Save Target As."

      Upload files to the FTP site by using Windows Explorer. To open up the FTP site in Windows Explorer, click on the "Page" button in Internet Explorer and select "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer." Press "Alt" to open up the Windows Explorer menu bar. Click "File" and then select "Log in as." Enter your FTP user name and password into the appropriate fields and click "Log On." Upload a file to the FTP site by right-clicking the file and selecting "Copy." Next, right click a vacant inside an FTP folder and select "Paste."
