How to Add a Site to Dogpile

Dogpile is a web search engine. However you may find that it is not easy to submit a URL address to this search engine because it uses metasearch technology to gather results from Google, Bing, Yahoo! and Ask. Hence, in order to get picked up by Dogpile, you can add your URL to these other engines, which in turn will help get your website included in a listing of relevant Dogpile pages.

      Bring up the Google, Bing and Yahoo! pages that allow you to submit your website address to these search engines.

      Type your site's URL in the provided text field on each page. For Google, enter your address in the "URL" text box. With Yahoo!, first click the "Submit Your Site for Free" link, click the "Submit a Website or Webpage" option and then enter the address. On Bing, type in the CAPTCHA code that displays and then enter your website address.

      Click the "Add URL" and "Submit URL" buttons to finish adding your site to these search engines.

    Ask

      In order to submit your website to Ask, you will need to create and submit a sitemap. You can avail of free sitemap creators like XML-Sitemaps.com or Sitemaps-Builder.com. Enter your URL address in the space provided and click the "Start" button to download the sitemap file to your computer.

      Log in to the web host account that contains all the files for your website. Navigate to the "Control Panel," select the "File Manager" option and double-click the root directory, which is typically named "public_html" or "public_www." Click the "upload" or "browse" link to select the sitemap file and upload it to your host. Make a note of your sitemap's URL location (for example, http://www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml).

      Type "http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http%3A//www.the URL of your sitemap here.xml" address in your browser's address bar. Before you hit enter, replace "the URL of your sitemap here" with your particular sitemap's URL address. Hit "Enter." This action pings Ask.com, which means that it lets this search engine know that your sitemap has been submitted.
