How to Use a Notebook Receiver

Save

A notebook receiver is built-in hardware that allows the computer the ability to connect to a wireless Internet connection. You don't need to install any additional software in order to take advantage of the notebook's receiver, but it does take a few setting adjustments to ensure the computer connects properly to the wireless network of your choice.

  • Power on the computer and wait for the operating system to finish loading.

  • Right-click the wireless icon in the lower left corner of the computer screen. This brings up a new selection menu.

  • Choose "Enable" to turn on the wireless connection.

  • Right-click the wireless icon once again, then choose "Search for available wireless networks." A new selection window loads, displaying all of the wireless connections available.

  • Click on the wireless network you want to join, then type in any required password. Click "Connect" and the computer connects directly to the wireless Internet connection.
