You can save money by doing it yourself and not taking the car to an auto mechanic or dealership, but appropriate steps have to be taken not to have the fluid spill or ruin surfaces on the vehicle.
Step 1
Park the vehicle on level ground.
Step 2
Place a large container underneath the radiator drain fitting. This is located on the bottom of the radiator near the front of the vehicle.
Step 3
Attach the 3/8-inch hose to the drain fitting. Direct the end of the hose into the large container. This will ensure that the fluid flows directly into the container.
Step 4
Place the 1/4-inch drive extension on the drain plug and turn counterclockwise to loosen it. Once loose, the fluid will start draining from the radiator drain fitting.
Step 5
Remove the coolant reservoir cap. This will allow the radiator to drain more quickly.

- Raising the vehicle up and resting it on four jack stands will provide easier access and give you more room to maneuver when draining the radiator.

Warnings
