How to Go Wireless With the Linksys WRT310N Wireless-N Gigabit Router
The Linksys wireless WRT310N router uses the wireless N network bandwidth, but it is also backward-compatible with wireless G and B networks. The router also supports wired Internet with up to a 1-gigabyte port. The Linksys needs its wireless settings configured before you can connect other devices to the router wirelessly.
Instructions

1
Connect the Linksys WRT310N to its power source and allow it a minute to fully power on. Connect the modem to the router's Internet port with an Ethernet cable.
-
2
Open your Internet browser. Click in the address bar and type "192.168.1.1." Press "Enter."
-
-
3
Skip the username field and type "admin" into the password when the Linksys administration panel prompts you. Click "OK" to log into the router control panel.
-
4
Click "Wireless." Click "Manual" to set up the wireless configuration yourself.
-
5
Use the drop-down list to set the network mode. If all computers on the network are capable of N, choose N only. Likewise, if the devices can all only do G or B networks, use the respective setting. Otherwise, leave the setting on "Mixed."
-
6
Change the SSID name. The router assigns a default SSID, or wireless network name, to your wireless router. You should change the default so you won't be sharing a network name with someone else's router. Click "Save Changes."
-
7
Click "Wireless Security" to set up your router's wireless encryption method. Select a wireless encryption method from the drop-down list and enter a network password. Click "Save Changes."
