How to Troubleshoot a Philips HD TV
So your Philips high definition television is experiencing a some technical difficulty. It used to be that you adjusted a television aerial or a single wire on the back of the set, and your problems cleared right up. However, today's Philips HDTVs feature a number of ports and settings, allowing for any number of ways to put them out of sorts. Fortunately, there are a variety of minor fixes to help get you up and running again.

Turn off your television and unplug it. Leave it unplugged for at least five minutes, then plug it back in and try it again. This method solves a surprising number of problems with electronics.

Press the Mute button on your remote, then turn the volume all the way up and down, if you're having problems with the sound.

Check the video mode settings. On your remote, press the Source or TV/Video button, and try all available video modes. If you're not receiving both picture and sound, this could resolve your problem.

Unplug all the wires on the back of your television, noting where they are connected. Then plug the wires back in, ensuring they fit snugly on the ports. Then trace the wires from your television to where they are connected. Repeat the process, once again tightening the wires in place.

Individually replace any wires that are damaged or are not working. For instance, if your DVD player is playing correctly on the TV, but your cable isn't, replace the wire that connects the cable receiver to your television. Also repeat Step 1 with any devices that are not working correctly.
