Fill the coffeemaker's water reservoir with the coffee pot full of water. This makes around 12 cups if you're using a standard maker.

Place the filter into the provided basket on the coffeemaker.

Place a handful of coffee beans into the grinder. A rounded handful, or around 1/2 cup, makes a moderately strong pot of coffee. If you enjoy a richer, stronger cup of joe, use two handfuls, or a full cup.

Grind the beans for a whole minute. This grinds them into a grainy, course mixture. You can grind them for an additional minute to make the grounds finer for a darker brew. This takes full advantage of the beans' flavors. Sometimes this is called an espresso roast, when the beans are ground into a near powder.

Pour the grounds into the filter, and make the coffee as normal.
