Microsoft Word 2007 allows computer users to color, resize and even change the direction of text in a document. Although vertical text is unconventional, you can experiment with different creative styles by changing the text direction of words and paragraphs in Word 2007.

Instructions

Open Word and create a new document.

    • 2

Click the "Insert" tab on the ribbon at the top of the screen.

    • 3

Click "Text Box." A menu will open. Click the "Draw Text Box" button at the bottom of the menu.

    • 4

Click an empty area in the document where you want the text box to appear. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse cursor to draw a text box.

    • 5

Release the mouse button and type text into the text box.

    • 6

Click "Format" and then click "Text Direction." A panel will open and display different text direction options such as "Rotate all text 90 degrees" and "Rotate all text 270 degrees."

    • 7

Click one of the options to apply it. Word 2007 will change the orientation of the text.
