How to Activate Microsoft Office 2008
Microsoft Office 2008 is the Mac operating system counterpart to Office 2007 for Windows. Office 2008 contains all the programs and functions of the Windows-based suite, but it's available for Mac users who would otherwise use the less popular iWork or AppleWorks software suites. Activating Office 2008 is done during installation, but some Office 2008 users may experience activation problems that render the suite useless. You can delete the previous activation information while keeping the suite on your computer and enter the activation key again to get it registered.

Activating Microsoft Office 2008 During Product Installation

Locate your product key on the inside of your Microsoft Office 2008 disc cover or retrieve it from the email address you submitted if you purchased a Microsoft Office 2008 digital download (print or write down the product key that was emailed to you and close the Internet window).

Start the Microsoft Office 2008 installation wizard. Follow the instructions and prompts to install the program suite on your computer.

Enter the product key when prompted to do so. Be sure to enter the key in all caps, and don't confuse the "0" with the "O," or the key will be denied.

Continue with the installation until the installation wizard is complete. Microsoft Office 2008 will be installed on your computer and activated for full use.
Activating Microsoft Office 2008 With a New Product Key

Obtain your product key from the inside of your Microsoft Office 2008 disc cover or retrieve it from the email address you submitted with your Microsoft Office 2008 digital download purchase (print or write down the product key).

Open the "Applications" folder, open the "Microsoft Office 2008" folder and then click on the "Office" folder.

Throw the "OfficePID.plist" file in the trash and delete it permanently. Exit the "Office" folder.

Open the "Home" folder, click on "Library," "Preferences" and click on the "Microsoft 2008" folder.

Open the "Office 2008" folder and permanently delete the "Microsoft Office 2008 settings.plist" file.

Return to the "Library" folder and open the "Receipts" folder.

Delete all the "Office2008_en_" files and empty the trash when you're done.

Restart the computer to ensure that the information you deleted is erased from the computer.

Open one of the Microsoft Office 2008 programs, and the Office Setup Assistant will appear onscreen.

Read and accept the software licence agreement, and a product key entry box will appear.

Enter your product key in capital letters and ensure that you enter 0's and O's where they're necessary. Microsoft Office 2008 is now activated on your computer.
