How to Get Rid of a Hickey Faster

You and your significant other were caught up in the moment. Later, in the bright light of your bathroom, you notice a large purple spot on your neck. You are desperate to get rid of that hickey before your friends, boss, parents or teachers see it. While a hickey is a bruise that you can't make disappear in an instant, you can make it vanish more quickly following a few simple tricks.

Things You'll Need

• Spoons
• Freezer
• Toothbrush
• Washcloth

Instructions

1. Wet two spoons by placing them under a running faucet. Pop the wet spoons in the freezer. Leave in the freezer until the spoons are cold. Remove one of the spoons, leaving the others.

2. Place the back of the cold spoon over the hickey for 15 minutes. The cold spoon will help ease swelling. Hickeys swell just like other bruises.

3. Brush the hickey with a soft-bristle toothbrush. Using light pressure, brush from the center of the hickey to the edge. This will help disperse the built up blood under the surface of the skin by stimulating circulation.

4. Repeat the cold spoon and toothbrush methods during the next 24 hours.

5. Apply a warm, damp washcloth to the hickey 24 hours after receiving it. Massage the hickey with the washcloth. Do this three times a day to open up blood vessels, to bring new blood to the area and to break up the old blood that is causing the hickey.

Tips & Warnings

• Use a concealer made to hide redness to mask the appearance of the hickey while you work on making it disappear.

• Be careful not to pull or tug at the skin as you spread the concealer. A cream concealer is ideal for this reason.
