Instructions

  1. Draping a Bengali Saree

    • 1

Dress in a petticoat, or a long skirt that reaches the floor. Then, put on a tight-fitting blouse. The saree will wrap around the blouse, so it is not necessary for the blouse to cover more than the bust. Both the petticoat and the blouse should match the color and fabric of the saree.

    • 2

Start at the bellybutton, and tuck a piece of the top upper end into the waist of the petticoat. The opposite end of the saree will reach the floor. Wrap the saree around the waist at least two times. Depending on the waist size, more wrapping or less wrapping of the saree may be necessary. Save enough fabric to throw over the shoulder.

    • 3

To complete the Bengali saree look, drape the remaining fabric over the left shoulder. Use a safety pin to attach the end of the saree to the blouse.
