How to Open Gadget Documents

GADGET files are executable files mainly associated with Microsoft, according to FILExt, an online database of file extensions. GADGET files are small programs that are executed within the Windows Vista Sidebar and contain multiple files in a ZIP format.

Because GADGET files are compressed in a ZIP format, they can be renamed to the file extension .ZIP and be opened with any ZIP-compatible decompression software such as Corel WinZip 14.5, RARLAB's WinRAR, 7-Zip and WinACE.

Instructions

    • 1

Renamed your GADGET file to the file extension .ZIP.

    • 2

Right click on the renamed GADGET file.

    • 3

      Click on "Open With."

    • 4

Select the "Choose Default Program" option.

    • 5

Click on the icon of the software you wish to open the GADGET file with.

    • 6

Click on "Browse" only if you cannot see the application you wish to use. Search for it, select it and then click on "Open."

    • 7

Click on "OK." Your GADGET file will open in the file decompression software.

    • 8

Click on "Extract." Your GADGET file contents will be extracted and you will be able to view the documents.
