How to Convert a Hex File
HEX files are miscellaneous files that are mainly associated with Hexadecimal Source, according to FileInfo.com, an online database of file extensions. HEX files store essential information and settings that are required for the configuration of applications. Moreover, they contain data in a hexadecimal format. You can convert your HEX file to text with conversion software such as WnBrowse 4.8, Hex Editor 3.1 and All to Text 1.2. Doing this will enable you to read the file in a format that you will understand.

Right-click the HEX file.

Click "Open With."

Select the "Choose Default Program" option.

Click the icon of the conversion software you wish to open the HEX file with.

Click "Browse" only if you cannot see the software. Search for it, select it and click "Open."

Click "OK." Your HEX file will open in the conversion software.

Click "Convert." If this option is not displayed, find it under the "File" tab.

Select the file extension you wish to convert the HEX file to and then click "Convert." (If you cannot see a "Convert" option, click on "OK" or "Continue," depending on the software.) Your HEX file will be converted.
