Most car makers allow you to program your car's keyless remote by following a series of steps within the car. Dodge is no different; you can program your 2004 Durango key fob by simply getting into your vehicle and following a few simple steps. This will save you the cost of obtaining a new key fob through the dealership and allow you to buy the one of your choosing online. You can order a customized cover and program your fob upon its arrival.

Step 1

Enter your vehicle and close all the doors.

Step 2

Fasten your seatbelt. This will cancel any chiming that may confuse you during the programming procedure.

Step 3

Place your key in the ignition. Turn it to the "On" position. Do not start the engine.

Step 4

Press and hold the "Unlock" button on the key fob. After holding it for four seconds, press the "Panic" button within six seconds.

Step 5

Listen for a single chime and then release both buttons. The chime lets you know that you have successfully entered into program mode for your truck. If you need to program additional fobs, do so within sixty seconds of hearing the chime.

Programming Additional Fobs

Step 1

Take the additional fobs and press and release both the "lock" and "unlock" buttons at the same time. You will hear another single chime.

Step 2

Press and release the "unlock" button on the fob. A single chime will sound.

Step 3

Repeat the first two steps for an additional six key fobs if desired.

Step 4

Turn your ignition to the "Off" position to exit programming mode. All your fobs should function normally.
