How to Collect Unclaimed Money in North Carolina

If you are a North Carolina resident, you might have money coming your way and not even know it. When assets like bank accounts, tax rebates, state tax refunds and stock funds go unclaimed, they become the responsibility of the state of North Carolina. Fortunately, you can find out about those unclaimed assets and reclaim them by doing a simple web search.

Instructions

1. Log on to the website of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators by visiting unclaimed.org. Click on North Carolina on the map.

2. Wait to be connected to the unclaimed property website maintained by the state of North Carolina. Enter your last name or business name, along with your first name, and click the "Search" button.

3. Review the list of results to see if they match any of your potential assets. Click the "File Out Form" link on the top of the search results and complete the claim form.

4. Provide as much information as you can when completing the claim form. The more information you can provide the easier it will be to verify your claim and get you your money.
