  • Garden hose
  • No-rinse HVAC cleaner

      Turn off the power supply to the air conditioner.

      Remove the cover or housing from the air conditioner with a screwdriver. Refer to the owner's manual for location of the screws and type of screwdriver. If you're cleaning a window unit, take it outside onto a flat area.

      Locate the coils inside the air conditioner. Spray the coils with a garden hose to rinse away excess dirt and debris. Take care not to bend the fins with high pressure water, and avoid spraying any electrical components.

      Spray the coils thoroughly with HVAC cleaner, and scrub the coils with a coil brush if necessary.

      Replace the cover or housing and turn on the power supply.
